Decision depth
Stack-to-pot ratio describes how much betting room remains.
SPR is usually the effective stack remaining at the start of a postflop street divided by the pot at that moment.
The basic calculation
Pot: $40. Effective stack remaining: $200.
SPR = 200 ÷ 40 = 5.
What changes as SPR changes?
Lower SPRs reduce the number of pot-sized bets needed to get stacks in. Higher SPRs leave more room for multi-street betting, positional effects and expensive mistakes with strong-but-not-nutted hands.
What SPR does not tell you
SPR does not identify the correct action by itself. Board texture, range advantage, nut advantage, position, blockers, rake and opponent tendencies still matter.
